Usage & Dilation Guidelines

• Standard Egg Disinfection: Typically a $1:100$ dilution ($100$ ppm of available iodine) for a contact time of 10 minutes.

• Procedure: 1. Prepare the Buffodine solution using clean hatchery water.

  2. Immerse the water-hardened eggs into the solution for exactly 10 minutes.

  3. Rinse the eggs thoroughly with clean water before returning them to the incubator.

• Note: Always ensure eggs are fully water-hardened before treatment to prevent the iodine from penetrating the egg membrane.

Safety & Storage

• Storage: Store in a cool, dark place. Iodine is light-sensitive; keep the container tightly sealed and away from direct sunlight to maintain potency.

• Handling: Povidone-iodine can stain skin and clothing. Wear appropriate PPE, including gloves and eye protection.

• Compatibility: Do not mix with other chemicals or disinfectants, particularly those containing alkalis or reducing agents.
